Created using a unique combination of two casks, American Oak Casks from Kentucky and French Oak Cognac Casks from France to perfectly finish a unique marriage of aged Single Malt and Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey.
Writer’s Tears Red Head
This exclusive, limited edition Single Malt whiskey offers a flavour distinctly different from the rest of the Writers’ Tears portfolio. As a portfolio, Writers’ Tears dares to be different and none more so than Writers’ Tears Red Head. A single malt matured in oloroso sherry casks , Red Head delivers a taste equalled only by its striking red colour.
Writers’ Tears Cask Strength
This Vintage release selects only the finest distillates of Single Pot Still & Single Malt Irish Whiskey, matured in exceptional American Oak casks. Non chill filtered, this whiskey is a full bodied, high strength, flavoursome whiskey, with just 3,000 bottles created. Bottled at an impressive 54.5% ABV. A bold and complex dram.
Tears of Whiskey
The Irish whiskey barons, rebelling against the emergence of what they saw as inferior grain from Coffey Stills, were protective of the traditions that had made their success possible.
At that time, one whiskey style was held high above all others: the ‘champagne of Irish whiskey’ a master blend of pot still and malt whiskeys, both distilled in copper pots.
It was enjoyed by many of the great Irish writers of the day…. of course less for its inspirational qualities than its full bodied, flavoursome taste and creamy texture! It was said that they enjoyed it so much, that when they cried, their tears were of whiskey.
